Q&A:
Beauty Launchpad (BLP): What is a fun fact about you?
Stefania Glamour (SG): I’m an avid reader and wine connoisseur. I also speak three languages.
BLP: How did you get your start in the industry?
SG: My love for the industry began at the ripe old age of 3, when I participated in a runway show. This eventually led me to be the 2016 recipient of the Aveda Institute Catwalk for Water scholarship.
BLP: What is your proudest achievement in the industry thus far?
SG: Some of the proudest moments in my career so far was seeing my work in Playboy where I did the hair and makeup for the 65th anniversary. Additionally, doing the hair and makeup for a U.S. Secretary of State for the morning shows and speeches. Finally, working with an amazing team of people, being published this year in Italian Vogue.
BLP: What advice would you give to the younger version of yourself just starting out in the industry, looking back on your whole career?
SG: Don’t be so hard on yourself – practice makes perfect. A well-rested mind is key to betterment and creativity.
BLP: What is your current favorite hair trend?
SG: I really love festival braids, a color blocking pattern and a rainbow money piece.
BLP: What is a valuable hair tip that you want to share with your fellow stylists (whether it’s a business tip or something related to styling/working with hair)?
SG: Business tip: Push your clients contact info to the cloud, so you don’t have to rebuild your book from scratch. Hair tip: Know your tools! Know what they can do and then break the rules. Keep up to date with industry advancement in both product and tools.
BLP: What inspires your work?
SG: Art, culture and architecture inspire my approach to hair and makeup.
BLP: What is something that keeps you passionate and motivated in the industry each day?
SG: The innovation and technological advancement in the industry. This has led to hair and makeup becoming more scientific and data driven, leading to a much more precise application for clients.
BLP: What changes would you like to see the industry make in order to grow/change/evolve/be better than it was before?
SG: Inclusivity and texture education. We need to improve the board curriculum to broaden the spectrum and include much more on textured hair. The current curriculum does not focus on how to prep, cut and service textured hair. The curriculum must go beyond the basics.
BLP: What is a career goal you have for yourself?
SG: Open my own product and tool line and to open a creative space here in Miami where anyone can learn and find the BEST version of themselves.
